BIOME is the Philippine National Biodiversity Meeting in Catanduanes Island that is held during the Catandungan Festival in October. This is organized by Pacific Island Institute for Pedagogy, Technology, Arts & Sciences, Inc. in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Catanduanes. Although dealing with a variety of themes, this conference originally stood for the “Biodiversity Meeting in Catanduanes Island, Philippines on Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Innovations, Political Ecology and Social Representations in Nature Conservation” and was organized last 21-22 October 2010 (BIOME 1) and October 19-21, 2011 (BIOME 2). Hence BIOME 3: the Third Philippine National Biodiversity Meeting is being held again during the 2012 Catandungan Festival and back to back with SEDTEC 2, thaims to initiate a culture and tradition of providing a venue for researchers, teachers and practitioners to present their studies, innovations/inventions and experiences; to share their knowledge and exchange ideas; and to collaborate on projects to further strengthen the fields of biodiversity, climate change, science education, educational technology and sustainable development.
