Shale Gas Environmental Summit 2012

Date: 23-May-12 to 24-May-12
Location: Copthorne Tara Hotel / London / United Kingdom
Category: Energy

2011 Chairmans opening remarks "In 1759 Samuel Johnson remarked that ‘The first casualty of a war is truth’. Sadly this cliché also applies in the energy versus environment debate in general, and shale gas in particular. Hopefully this conference can help to clarify whether shale gas is the answer to our energy needs, or another contributor to the doom of civilisation"

In the same week that it was reported that by 2015 China plans on producing 6.5 billion cubic meters of Shale Gas, and by 2020 plans are set to increase this figure to 80 billion cubic meters, we also saw demonstrators take to the streets in Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, to ban Shale Gas exploration in the country. Due to public pressure France have banned Shale Gas exploration, but Germany have been fracking for so long now, it is seen as conventional, rather than conventional!

SMi's 2nd annual Shale Gas Environmental Summit will follow up any un-answered questions, discuss new concerns/myths, and continue to evaluate this new source of energy. With the debate surrounding hydraulic fracturing continuing to make headlines on a weekly basis worldwide, this event will deliver a unique platform to all key stakeholders to understand regulations, applications and the progress of this resource.

This unique Summit will provide all key stake holders the opportunity to fully understand the environmental concerns around Shale development, the risks, challenges and drivers for economic growth.
