Essay Competition 2012: Youth and climate change: Local action for a global challenge.

Climate change is recognized as a priority challenge that humanity is facing in the 21st century and some of its consequences – like increased frequency and intensity of natural hazards – are already being felt.
The goal of the competition is to provide young people with different backgrounds, to address global problems and find solutions through the development level of knowledge in Climate Change.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
Primary consideration will be given to the Essay's originality and its contribution to new knowledge, insights and concerted action in Climate Change Adaptation on both locally and nationally levels and internationally so. Other considerations will be the author's demonstration of the relevance of the subject, the cogency of the presentation and the documentation, and the stylistic quality of the Essay. Essay should reflect what specific measures should be implemented at local, national and international levels to address these global problems.
THE ESSAY:
The essay shall be original and unpublished, in the English language and of no more than 6,000 words in length (approximately 30 pages), including footnotes or endnotes. A reasonable amount of illustrative and tabular material will be welcome. The essay must be typed using a standard font (Times New Roman, 11 point font) Single space paragraphs, double space between paragraphs, and double space after a heading. Include a cover page that lists the name, mailing address and e-mail address of the student, the college or university, and the student's current status, i.e., sophomore, junior, 1st year MA, etc
The closing date for submissions is midnight on 30 September 2012 and any submissions received after this time will not be considered for the competition.
Essays must be submitted with Fee Payment Receipt/Slip by email to crrdsc@yahoo.com no later than 30 November 2012

THE AWARD:
The award-winning essay will be evaluated by a panel of professionals judges.
The best projects will be published monthly in the edition and mass-media, and the winners will be awarded with prizes: 1-st place- 1000 $; 2- 600$; 3- 400$, and diplomas.
The winners (which will be reimbursed travel and accommodation ) will be invited to make an oral presentation about the paper at the Award Ceremony on 17 December, 2012.
The panel's decision will be announced on 07 December, 2012.
Prizes and certificates will be presented on The Award Ceremony on 17 December, 2012.
At the award ceremony will be invited representatives of government, embassies, diplomatic missions, sponsors and other officials.
