As part of the ongoing business outreach and education (BOE) within the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office, objective to “deliver IP awareness and information directly and indirectly so that business can perform better”, the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has, in partnership with Coventry University and the British Library, developed the IP Masterclass.

The course provides students with the skills to conduct an IP health check and gain a thorough understanding of patents, trade marks, copyright and designs along with commercialisation of IP (licensing, brand identity and valuation). It also offers the delegates the opportunity to increase and refine their skills in patent, trade mark and design database searches to a professional standard.

The course, accredited by Coventry University and supported by CIPA and ITMA, is a specialist course designed to enable delegates to develop a detailed understanding of IP and its relationship with business, culture and the economy along with sound practical skills that can be applied to a business environment.

Delegates are offered the opportunity to gain 15 credits at Post-Graduate level; it has been quality assured by Coventry University and can be used as most CPD courses. It may also enable delegates to substitute a module in further HEI qualifications, for example, as part of an MBA.
