The Inaugural Teleworking Summit 2013

Date: 27-Jun-13 to 28-Jun-13
Location: Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney / Sydney / Australia
Category: Conferences & Trade Fairs Telecommunications

Summary:

The program will address how teleworking will become standard employment strategy by 2020 and how beneficial it will be to company productivity and overheads.

Description:

Although teleworking is a relatively old concept, the continuing evolution of technology particularly in context to the NBN, allows for ever increasing opportunities for organisations from the private and public sectors to SME and corporates to implement teleworking as part of their employment strategy.

The primary benefits around teleworking range from cost saving and talent retention opportunities for employers to greater flexibility and time saving opportunities for employees. Additionally the reduction of traffic congestion and easing of pressure on infrastructure also offers benefits to the greater community.

The Federal Government launched The National Telework Week in November 2012 to bring greater attention to this issue and tie it in to the broader possibilities under the impending NBN. They will try to lead by example in relation to this initiative with plans to have 12% of the Australian Public Service work under a telework arrangement by 2020. There are also potential economic opportunities, with teleworking having the ability to create 25,000 brand new jobs and broaden the labour participation rate through removing the obstacle of geo-location or disability with a potential increasing of GDP by 3.2bn by 2021 upon the completion of the NBN.
