Location: Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel / Sydney / Australia
Category: Food & Beverages Conferences & Trade Fairs

Informa's annual Food Regulations and Labelling Standards Conference is now in its 15th year and continually provides a platform to discuss the ongoing issues in food policy.

With the front of pack food labelling system debate looming over the industry, discussions around health and food regulations has gained greater impetus. Equally there has been continuing discussion on the need for enhanced stakeholder engagement to support an effective and equitable policy and regulatory environment.

In a two day forum featuring the leaders from industry and regulators, the 15th annual Food Regulations and Labelling Standards Conference will take forward the discussion on whether the current industry systems are adequate in providing consumers the health information they need on the food they consume. This will be among the key themes for discussion over two days that will see broad regulatory overviews on food and labelling standards. Public health and consumer perspectives on food regulations and health will be juxtaposed with industry views on the impact of regulation and government and sector perspectives on harmonising national and international regulatory environments.

Key themes include:
Examining the current regulatory frameworks across the food production chain
Approaches to food and health claims
The Health Star Rating system - debating the impact and implications of standards for nutrition and health claims - government and industry views
Country-of-Origin Labelling
Allergens risk management and regulation and examining consistency and clarity in allergen labelling
Developing common non-regulatory approaches to reduce risk and respond to consumer demands and behaviour
