A comprehensive 3-day briefing covering technical & operational aspects involved in establishing & operating an LNG facility including verview of the main challenges & recent developments. Key Learning Objectives Review and refresher of the LNG industry and its global supply chain Understand the physical properties of LNG and typical specifications for LNG production and trading Examine in detail the technical components of an LNG facility including gas treating, liquefaction, storage, loading Discover liquefaction technologies, processes and licensors Understand equipment considerations for LNG Design and integration aspects of liquefaction plants and marine facilities Determine gas pre-treatment requirements and processes for LNG facilities Examine LNG plant utilities, flare systems and fuel gas systems Appreciate safety aspects of LNG design and operation Operational aspects of LNG facilities including maintenance, manning, operational readiness Understand other operations involved in the LNG supply chain including shipping, receiving terminals and regasificationAbout the CourseLNG is simply natural gas which has been liquefied for storage and transportation. In LNG form, natural gas is condensed into one 600th of its volume, allowing it to be stored and transported more easily. Liquefaction (by cooling to minus 162 degrees C) occurs in large land based plants and is transported to receiving terminals in LNG carrier vessels. The need for LNG arises due to the uneven distribution of gas resources and gas markets and the resulting need to transport gas over long distances or over oceans. Although building LNG facilities is capital intensive, transporting LNG by ship over long distances is more economically attractive than transporting compressed natural gas or pipeline gas.
