Military E-Learning and Smart Devices

Date: 21-Oct-14 to 22-Oct-14
Location: IQPC / London / United Kingdom
Category: Conferences & Trade Fairs

Defence IQ is holding its inaugural Military E-Learning and Smart Devices Conference to support the pioneers using e-learning and simulation techniques for the training of military personnel. This tri-service event will provide the opportunity to share best practice in what remains a relatively new and innovative side of the defence community. This is the only conference dedicated to the military use of smart devices for e-learning and simulation outside of North America.

Over the last ten years, some militaries have taken advantage of the growth of smart device technology in the civilian sector and the substantial RandD spending by technology companies. With defence budgets being squeezed globally, it makes sense to utilise existing technologies, which are constantly being updated by the private sector. Given the wide variety of apps and software now available, providing service personnel with a range of services from serious gaming to updated manuals and doctrines, militaries around the world are riding the wave of the latest tech bubble.

With a process of trial and error typifying the global military approach to this technology, there is still a substantial debate to be had as to how the community best maximises the educational benefits of these smart devices for their personnel’s development. This conference will fill that void.

Key topics under discussion at Military E-Learning and Smart Devices:
The latest developments in e-learning and how it can facilitate the training and development of service personnel in a range of ways from cultural awareness courses in preparation to a deployment, to bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees
Identifying the latest requirements and trends in the military simulation market looking at the use of software from the Oculus Rift headset
The use of smart devices (smartphones, tablets, kindles) for e-learning and simulation, with a particular focus on the apps which enable this innovative capability
