Master the Art of Pruning through Practice

Date: 07-Mar-15 to 07-Mar-15
Location: The Urban Farmers / Lafayette / United States
Category: Education Travel & Tourism

Pruning living trees can feel scary and mysterious. To overcome the confusion, you have read a book or two, searched a few articles and even attended a class. Now what?

Mastering the art of pruning through text and discussion alone, is akin to learning to play the piano by reading about music. You need a keyboard and practice.

Most of us have one or two fruit trees that we prune once a year. With such a limited opportunity to discuss the topic and practice the techniques, mastering pruning will be slow, if not impossible.

What if you could learn to prune by doing it more than once a year? What if you could learn pruning concepts and discuss how to apply the concepts, and then practice right away? And then do it again?

With the understanding that confidence comes from practice, we invite you to join The Urban Farmer’s “Master Pruning Through Practice”, a series of classes to help develop your intuitive eye for pruning.

Pruning New Tree Workshop
The first session will be on 2/21 in Walnut Creek where we have an orchard of 80 fruit trees that was planted a year ago. We start the day with a lecture on practical pruning techniques and then form groups. We will then go to the orchard, discuss what we learned and apply the techniques to 80 trees.
