The course covers signs, symptoms, and crisis intervention for the four main categories of mental illnesses:

• Substance Disorders and crisis first aid for overdosing
• Mood Disorders and crisis first aid for suicidal behavior
• Anxiety Disorders and crisis first aid for panic attacks & acute stress episodes
• Psychotic Disorders and crisis first aid for psychotic episodes.

The goals of this course are simple:
1) Educate people about mental health problems and treatment
2) Reduce the stigma of mental illnesses
3) Reduce the $33 billion in lost productivity due to mental illness in the Canadian labor force

Any and every employee in Canada is encouraged to take this evaluated training program that is endorsed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and is part of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
