This year’s USA Volleyball Cup is a rematch of 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship gold-medal match in which the U.S. defeated China 3-1. The title match pitted two of the youngest teams in the tournament with legendary coaches leading their squads. U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly became only the fourth person to win a gold medal as a player and coach at the World Championship. China’s head coach Jenny Lang Ping, the only female head coach of a national team in the top 20 teams in the world, was trying to accomplish the same feat.
