Keeping in mind the overall initiative of celebrating photography as an art form, Asian Photography initiated Artistique two years ago. The idea was to promote Photography as an artform and promote the culture of photography and picture taking. In order to achieve this goal, we set up a two-fold task, a photography exhibition and a contest.
In order to achieve the above objective, Asian Photography brought together renowned photographers under one platform and organise a nationwide photography contest for its readers. For its inaugural edition, famous Indian photographers like Kakubhai, Jatin Kampani, Ali Rangoonwala and Arko Datta exhibited their images under the theme of Black & White in 2013.
For the 2014 edition, apart from the seasoned professionals like Martin Prihoda and Sudhir Shivaram, the exhibit also featured some of the entries received from the readers, to give upcoming/rising talent a chance to enter the big league.
Artistique 2015 is bigger and better, as it is a travelling exhibition, visiting four cities, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The exhibit features outstanding works by photographers Vickram Bawa, Shibu Arakkal and Sarker Protick. Continuing the idea from last year, to encourage upcoming talent, the exhibit also features winning images of the contest.
