Coronary Artery Disease: Case-Based Learning

Throughout the program multiple challenging cases of acute coronary syndrome, revascularization dilemmas will be presented. Emphasis will be placed upon take-home messages offered by expert faculty. Case-based presentations will be complemented by state-of-the-art lectures covering topics across the spectrum of coronary artery disease, including the latest advances in medical, interventional, and surgical management.
A mini symposium will review the radial approach to angiography and intervention as an alternative to the femoral approach. Case-based discussions will highlight “best practice” for optimal patient outcomes. Preventive topics will include the latest and controversial recommendations for treatment of hyperlipidemia as well as the growing controversy on E-cigarettes, diet, and lifestyle.

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Distinguish lifestyle interventions and primary preventative measures that improve cardiovascular prognosis
• Describe contemporary diagnostic and management strategies for acute coronary syndromes including ST-elevation myocardial infarction
• Incorporate the use of contemporary imaging modalities for the detection and treatment of coronary artery disease
• Recognize the latest diagnostic and management strategies for patients with stable CAD

Intended Audience
The course would be of interest for cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and internists as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners managing patients with coronary artery disease.
