Welcome, bienvenue, to the 8th World Congress of the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive & Critical Care Societies (PICC 2016) to be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada June 5-8, 2016. We are excited to get things underway and have a busy 12 months ahead as we plan for the scientific and social aspects of the meeting. As in the past, the scientific content is our focus with an aim to foster learning and collaboration for the care we provide to children with critical illness and their families. Experts representing points of view from across the globe will lead core tracks, and in response to feedback from past registrants, we are including daily plenary sessions, expanded pre-conference workshops, and opportunities to meet and discuss specific topics with experts in the field. We are planning the program to enable presenters of free papers and posters to be integrated into the main program themes. We want you to feel engaged and inspired, have the confidence to take on new challenges and think outside the box!
If the program itself isn't enough to convince you to attend PICC 2016, it is certain that you will feel very welcome and at home in Toronto. Previous WFPICCS Congresses have had registrants from over 90 different countries. Toronto is a city that reflects diversity. The conference facilities are excellent and central to downtown activities. The restaurants are fabulous and cater to a range of tastes, cuisines and budgets. In addition to offering you the enriching experience of attending PICC 2016, in many ways Toronto is the gateway to further exploration across Canada and North America. Please help us to plan ahead by registering your interest now. The website will be updated regularly with new information and the program as it develops. Please make sure to contact us with any questions and we very much look forward to meeting everyone in Toronto next year.
