Evolution of an Entrepreneur

Date: 10-Nov-15 to 10-Nov-15
Location: Carrwood Park / Leeds / United Kingdom
Category: Education

Neil Ewin founded his first company in 1986 to market software he had written while researching for an MPhil at Sheffield Polytechnic. Over the next 21 years Solicitec (latterly Visualfiles) grew slowly but steadily until acquired by a large multi-national company in 2007. At that point Visualfiles had 150 employees with offices in Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton and Sydney.
As the business transformed so did Neil, from computer nerd who knew nothing about business to serial entrepreneur who now claims to know nothing about computers. Having sold his first business, Neil set out to bring his experience to other fledgling businesses as an angel investor.
This presentation covers some of the core lessons Neil learnt during his ‘evolution’ and some of his successes and failures in applying that experience as an investor.
