Digital Citizenship, Digital Literacy: Cyber Civics for the Middle School

Date: 28-Jan-17 to 28-Jan-17
Location: Waldorf School at Moraine Farm / United States
Category: Education Conferences & Trade Fairs

Digital citizenship and digital literacy are hot topics today in education, and in society in general—and for good reason. The powerful technology that most kids carry around in their pockets connects them with the world in both positive and negative ways. Their access to information, and entertainment, and connection is vast—and so is their exposure to issues such as online privacy, cyberbullying, sexting, fake news, excessive screen time, and more. And as one educator puts it, “Our children are growing up on a digital playground and no one is on recess duty.” How can we give our students age-appropriate guidance to navigate the digital world ethically, safely, and wisely?
